*** OUR MISSION
The diversity of populations in Latin America and the region’s political, cultural, and economic achievements and challenges have all uniquely shaped education philosophies and practices within the region. Likewise,a variety of education philosophies and practices within the region have had enormous sociological, political and economic impacts on the region’s populations. There exists within Latin America a rich tradition of philosophies of education for the most part unknown and unexamined in the United States. LAPES seeks to introduce to a wide United States audience knowledge about Latin American philosophies and theories of education by providing scholars, students and practicing teachers opportunities to study in collaborative fashion the diverse collection of philosophical and theoretical works on education produced in Latin America.
A central premise of LAPES is that by studying Latin American philosophies of education scholars, teachers, and students can expand their own ways of theorizing education as well as develop techniques for improving educational practices in the United States. To advance this premise, LAPES aims to make resources available to individual and collective parties interested in inquiring into Latin American questions on philosophy of education, through professional development activities and other intellectual events. It is our hope that over time LAPES will come to include a diverse membership of scholars, students and teachers from the New York City area as well as beyond who are willing to examine Latin American philosophy of education in a collaborative manner.

NEW YORK CITY
Introduction:
We are happy to announce the 1st annual Latin American Philosophy of Education Society symposium to take place in New York City from November 1st-2nd, 2013. The endeavor of this symposium is to create and cultivate communities of inquiry made up of scholars, teachers, and students interested in Latin American Philosophy of Education. During the conference participants and speakers will have the opportunity to take part in a series of presentations and reading laboratories. We hope that the space and time that we share together will inspire new questions and developments in educational philosophy and practice.
Conference Theme:
The question which we aim to investigate is purposefully an open one: What is Latin American Philosophy of Education? We hope that this question generates more questions, discussions, and debates which last well beyond the conference gathering. Participants are asked to address the central theme of the conference and may also approach this topic by considering any of the following questions.
·
Is there
such a thing as Latin American Philosophy of Education (LAPE)-ontologically,
epistemologically, aesthetically?
·
Is LAPE
"ethno-philosophy"?
·
What
traditions or histories does LAPE envelope?
·
If you were
to teach a course on LAPE, what would you read?
·
How is LAPE
influenced by socio-political conditions (including race, class, gender,
nationality, language), and how does it influence those conditions?
Conference Organization and Submission Guidelines:
In order to allow for significant discussion of each paper we have limited the number of papers to be presented. Each paper will be given 2hrs of dialogue time. Dialogue sessions will be organized in a similar fashion to LAPES “reading laboratories”[1] and will include the interested public. Papers will be made available to all registered participants prior to the symposium. In addition, papers accepted and presented at the symposium will be published in the first issue of LAPIZ, the official journal of LAPES. Papers may be written in English, Spanish, and/or Portuguese.
[1] “Reading laboratories” are events in
which participants dialogue on a selected text in a horizontal manner. During
the symposium participants and panelists will discuss the papers presented.

Since nearly all scholarship grants require applicants to post no less than one essay, it is quite significant the essay an individual compose echoes on the scholarship idol judges. Not merely should you meet up with their specific requirements, and you also needs to ensure you will find zero punctuational or maybe grammatical problems.online essay checker
